Fatherhood Changed Everything<\/h2>\n

When I became a dad, I didn’t fully understand how much it would change me. I thought I had an idea of what fatherhood looked like based on what I experienced growing up and what I had learned along the way. You think you know what kind of parent you’ll be. You imagine the moments, the milestones, the version of yourself stepping into this new role. But nothing really prepares you for how much it changes the way you see the world, yourself, and the family you’re building.<\/p>\n

I remember the day my son was born like it was yesterday. There was excitement, but there was also fear. Uncertainty. A feeling of, am I ready for this? At the same time, there was something deeply grounding about it all. Life suddenly felt bigger than me. From that first night on, I realized how present I needed to be. Not perfect, just present. My son didn’t need me to have all the answers. He just needed me to show up.<\/p>\n

I watched my wife heal while trying to step into everything I could. I quickly learned that fatherhood isn’t just about loving your child. It’s about learning how to support your partner, adapting in real time, and trying your best even when you’re exhausted and unsure of yourself. I tried to learn quickly. I became adaptable. Patient. Or at least, I tried to be. Not only with my family, but with myself.<\/p>\n

The Parts of Yourself You Didn’t Expect<\/h2>\n

Because becoming a parent has a way of showing you parts of yourself you haven’t dealt with before. It brings out your best and sometimes your worst. It teaches you where you need healing. It teaches you what really matters. As my son grew, every week felt like something new. New milestones. New understandings. New versions of myself.<\/p>\n

Loving him came naturally. But slowing down enough to truly enjoy him, that took intention. I had to learn how to put my phone down. How to stop thinking about work for a second. How to be fully there during bath time, bedtime, walks, or even just laying on the floor playing. I started understanding that the small moments are actually the big moments. The real work of fatherhood is being present enough to notice it all.<\/p>\n

Now that my son is two, I feel time moving faster than ever. Everyone tells you the days are long but the years are short, and somehow both things are true at the same time. I don’t want to miss a thing. The ordinary moments feel sacred now. And if I’m being honest, one of the things I didn’t expect was how much I would need community.<\/p>\n

How Brooklyn Stroll Club Began<\/h2>\n

Fatherhood can feel lonely, even when your life is full. I was so all in on this new season of life, but I realized I didn’t know many dads who were talking honestly about what this actually felt like. The joy. The pressure. The anxiety. The questions. The moments where you Google something ten times and still text another parent asking, Is this normal? That need for connection is what led to starting Brooklyn Stroll Club.<\/p>\n

What started as a need for community during one of the biggest transitions of my life turned into something much bigger than I could have imagined. Today, it’s a growing community of thousands of dads showing up for one another, learning together, and creating what I believe is a more connected version of modern fatherhood. Because the truth is, dads don’t have to do this alone. Fatherhood hits different when you realize you were never meant to carry it all by yourself.<\/p>\n

Brooklyn Stroll Club taught me something I wish more dads knew. Most of us are needing the same thing. Support. Friendship. A place to feel understood. Somewhere we can show up honestly without feeling like we need to have everything figured out. Community changed everything for me. It looked like texting another parent at 6AM after a rough night of sleep. It looked like early morning park hangs. Conversations during walks. Learning from dads who were a few months ahead of me and encouraging dads who were just beginning.<\/p>\n

It Takes a Village<\/h2>\n

We talk a lot about the phrase it takes a village, and becoming a parent made me realize how true that really is. We are not meant to do this alone. If there’s one thing I would encourage any new parent to prioritize, it’s community. Find your people. Ask questions. Lean on others. Let yourself be supported. You don’t have to know everything. The truth is, fatherhood isn’t something you master. It’s something you grow into. And I’m still growing.<\/p>\n

I hope one day my son sees the care I tried to take, not only for him, but for myself, my family, and the people around us. I hope he sees that showing up matters. That community matters. That what starts at home can change the world. Because if fatherhood has taught me anything, it’s this: The best thing we can give our kids is a parent who is willing to keep growing.<\/p>\n
